Managing the risk during Coronavirus
Ensuring the safety and hygiene of my clients and myself is paramount. I have passed both the Barbicide COVID-19 Certification Course and the Safe Sets Covid-19 Course. These courses are regarded as best practice in the professional beauty and makeup industries. Based on these two courses, I have a standard safety procedure that I use on all my shoots.
Precautions that I take
Firstly, as of May 2021 I have had both vaccinations (and happy to provide evidence of this).
I have specialist UV cleaning equipment that I use to clean my brushes and makeup between each shoot. I’ve been using this process for the past 5 years so its reassuring to know that it’s a proven, highly effective way of reducing the risk of Covid-19 transmission on my tools.
In the event of me becoming ill
In the event that I become ill or have any symptoms of Covid-19 then I will cancel your appoint. This might be at short notice, but would be done in the interests of all our health and safety.
If it’s possible to reschedule the booking I will do it as soon as possible after the 14-day isolation period.
For weddings, I will arrange for an alternative Makeup Artist to attend your event. If I am unable to find a replacement artist, a 100% refund is provided.
In the event that you become ill
If you or any of the people you are in contact with feel ill or display any symptoms of COVlD-19, please advise me as soon as possible. Unfortunately, in these circumstances I will have to reschedule your appointment for as soon as possible after the required 14-day isolation period has elapsed.
The World Health Organisation has listed some of the most common symptoms of COVID-19 as fever, dry cough, tiredness, loss of smell unusual aches or pains. Other symptoms can be identified in the link below:
On The Day Of The Appointment
If possible, having a separate room or area to work in would be helpful. Good ventilation (and light) would also be a benefit. Only one person requiring makeup should enter the room at a time, in order to maintain social distancing.
All makeup clients will be required to wash their hands and apply hand sanitiser before the appointed start time. I will advise my clients to wear new pair of disposable gloves during their appointment to eliminate any risk of prior contamination.
I will use personal protective equipment (PPE) during your appointment. Upon arrival, I will disinfect the working area and place plastic sheeting on the area before starting work.
I regularly deep clean and disinfect my makeup kit and all makeup tools and products will be disinfected in line with the manufacturers guidance for your safety.
I use stainless steel spatulas and mixing palettes to decant makeup. For Mascara, I use disposable Mascara wands. I never double dip back into the tube after the first application. For lips, I use a disposable lip brush.
All disposable items are hygenically bagged and safely removed between each client.
In order to avoid cash handing, I am not currently accepting cash on the day.
If you have any concerns or questions, please do ask either before or on the day.
